What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

I lost my job and had no income for a few months and that created an issue with my landlord. I got behind a few months and made strides to pay what I could till I found a job.I was paying late but I kept communicating with him. He hired an attorney who represented me in several cases in the past to evict me. Does this attorney have the legal right to proceed with any legal action towards me being that I was a former client? What about a loyalty to clients? Thank you for any responses!

On what type of cases did the attorney represent you? When?
