What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

I recently started a new job where I was told the hours are 8:30am to 5:30pm

On my first day I was told lunch is only 30 minutes long. I'm an excempt employee holding a title of "Project Manager" so im not paid for overtime, etc..

In the employee booklet I was given, something states that employees who are non-except are eligible for a break of 15 minutes... however this does not apply for exempt employees.

Are they allowed to do this? Giving me only 30 minutes of lunch UNPAID lunch when I'm working 8:30 - 5:30??

Im not familiar with it. Last place I came to gave us a 1 hour lunch and we were 9-5

You are exempt, that means you are paid for the job you do not the amount of time it takes you to do it. Your lunch is not unpaid, you are not paid by the hour is all. And your lunch is as long as they tell you that you can take. In no state are they required to give any employee more than a 30 minute unpaid lunch.

NO state requires that you be provided with a paid lunch period. NO state requires a lunch break of longer than 30 minutes, with the exception of factory workers in your state. It would appear that you are not a factory worker.

NY is not one of the very few states which require rest breaks of any length for any employee.

So a single 30 minute unpaid break is quite legal.
