Magazine subscription purchased, company out of business

i live in nj and purchased a magazine subscription from a door to door salesperson. the distributor is american fullfillment center based in california. i never received the magazine and when i call the company the number has been disconnected. what can i do now to either get the magazine or a refund?

Contact your local better business bureau and file a complaint, for one.

However, many times businesses that fold are protected under bankruptcy laws from re-paying small customers.

Also, it could have been a boilerroom operation--a scam.
