My mailbos is located on a private road (not one that I live on). The homeowners are charging us a very large sum of money to get our mail. Do I have to pay it? If htey take me to small claims court (they are threatening to do so) do I have any grounds to stand on? We have tried to move the mailboxes but the homeowners faught it because they would lose our money. Help...

You have posted your question to the Small Claims forum. Please post to the correct discussion forum.

However, I will offer the following suggestion: Take this issue to your local postmaster. They are the best person to answer your specific questions about the USPS.

Sorry... The homeowners association is taking me to small claims court (name of this forum) so I thought this would be the correct place to ask my quesitons. Please forgive my ignorance.

Not a problem, but as suggested, you still need to "Take this issue to your local postmaster. They are the best person to answer your specific questions about the USPS."

What did the Postmaster say when you discussed this issue with him????

The Postmaster told us that they could not do that. If it was a problem they would move the boxes. He went and talked to the homeowners and told them he was moving the boxes. They threw a fit and told him not to move them... However they are still taking us to small claims court now stating that we are getting charged because our road crosses their road... This is getting crazy and out of control. We don't even use their road unless we walk down and get our mail.

Thanks,
TH
