We live in Texas, within city limits, there are a lot of empty lots on the sides of us. Noone is maintaining them. Grass is very tall, big time fire hazard not to mention, critters and we have small children who play outside. We have contacted city officials they say it is not their responsiblity it is the property owners and will not help us in any way. Was recently brought to my attention that if we maintain that property for 6 months to a year that we then have the right to contact the property owner and take over the deed and title. Is this correct and if so can anyone tell me where I can get the information that I need?

Thank you
Christie
