State: New York
I am writing a paper about a recent rule my school has initiated and would like to know more about its legalities. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
My high school has initiated a new rule that involves what is called senior breakfast, the rule which seems to have been established by the assistant principle is that students in order to graduate must attend this one time senior breakfast. Once more the senior breakfast takes place at 7 am at 1 hour before school starts making it an extra curricular activity.
My questions are:
-Is it in a New York state school's right to change the graduation requirements that a active senior class must meet?
-Is it legal for a extra-curricular activity to be considered a graduation requirement?
Would be great if anyone could produce laws or rulings in favor or against such a action in New York state.
