What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois
My husband moved out of the house 2 weeks ago, because I asked him to due to his drug use and porn. He has almost all his stuff out of the house now. can he raise a fuss if I have a male friend over to help me with the lawn and fixing things in the house? We are just friends, but my husband does not like him. I will be filing for divorce soon.

How can I find my old post?
Don't bother...there is nothing legally stopping you from having a male "friend" over to "help out"...and nothing legally stopping him from moving back in. Your still married and the place is half his as well...so there's no point in aggrevating the situation. How would you like it if he showed back up with a female friend to help out? I'd buy a ticket to that!

Wow... it probably wouldn't be a great idea, especially if he doesn't like him. There are ALWAYS nosy neighbors and you can bet one of them will be watching and ready to dish some dirt.
The only way I'd recommend having the "friend" over is if he DOES NOT enter the house. If he's visable the entire time he's there, then your STBX will have nothing to say about it.
If you allow him in the house, then you're really asking for trouble, especially since the divorce has not been filed yet.

That is true and I agree that it's good advice.

However, from a LEGAL perspective, there's nothing wrong with it and she can not be penalized for having male, female, or Vulcan friends. If she has sex with him, she's guilty of adultery which CAN have significant legal repercussions, particularly in some states, but as long as she avoids that, there is nothing legally he can do to her for having a male friend fix things around the house.

But I agree that discretion is the better part of valor and it would be better if she didn't have him over. If for some reason she HAS to have something fixed, better to hire a licensed contractor. If that's not possible, at the VERY LEAST, have a couple of female friends over to the house while the guy is inside fixing things. Who cares what the neighbors say?
