What is the name of your state? Idaho

Hi,

I moved from my apartment at the end of October. I had provided my 30 day notice, left the apartment in excellent condition and have now sent 2 letters requesting the return of my deposit ($600). I have also placed several calls.

Long story short, the company who manages the apartments have not returned my calls or my letters. I would estimate about 10 calls (all with messages left) and two letters in the past 3 months.

Should I get a lawyer? I am about to type up the 3rd letter, what should I say? I don't know if they are even reading them.

Anyway, thanks for the advice!

Check out the landlord/tenant laws in Idaho about how long landlords have to return deposits. Send one more letter via certified mail, return receipt requested. If you get it back, don't open it. Save it for evidence.

Your best route is through small claims court. Hiring an attorney will virtually "eat up" your deposit.

Did you do a walk through with your landlord when you left? Did he sign a sheet agreeing that the apartment was in good condition? Aside from normal wear and tear, is there anything he could deduct from the deposit?
