The place we live has switched managers a couple times now. We hadnt had an inspection for over a year, and when they did one, they moved our furniture, didnt put it back. Checked all the outlets. Turned on all the lights and didnt turn them off.
Said that a spot needed paint, was here when we moved in, so it was their paint job. A door that never closed had to be fixed, once again been that way since we moved in so they fixed it.
Then we got a call tonight at 720PM and said we had to go to the office and sign papers NOW. Couldnt wait until tomorrow.
It was the managers DAUGHTER not the manager. Who isnt even the manager because they just fired the manager after the inspections.
So the manager Allison is from another area and she is checking on things until they get a new manager.
HER DAUGHTER was at the office and said we had to sign these papers.
The paper we signed was an income verification, from 2 yrs ago when we moved in. Because our income increased.
Which was on the yearly paper we signed, but she didnt have that paper.
So we had to initial the paper from 2 yrs ago.
So was it legal for this ladies daughter to be the one that told us to sign this paper?

It's not ILLEGAL. You could have waited for the manager to be available. There was nothing forcing you to go and sign with the daughter.

Of course it was legal. It's legal for any employee of a management company to require you to sign/initial valid documents. Was it perhaps silly and stupid under the circumstances? Quite possibly.
