I am in Fresno, CA. My ex-husband and I leased a condo for one year last Feb. We had problems living together and he moved out, giving a 30 day notice, which the landlord sent to me with a letter explaining I was responsible for the one year lease. I had to go away for one week for doctor appointments. I have a 100%rating of disability, physically and psych. through State Comp. When I returned home, my ex-husband and the landlord had taken my name off the lease, removed the locks and replaced with new ones so I could not enter. I called the police and a report was written. I was informed by the police that I had to leave immediately. I refused. They said I could not stay as the landlord informed them I did not make enough with my income to stay, amd that an eviction notice was being written up, and they were waiting to serve me. In the mean time, the landlords here called her manager, and was told that what she and my ex-husband had done was totally illeagle, and they could never 'take' my name from a lease without my permission, and could not change locks and refuse to let me enter my own home. I cannot stress to you the emotional trauma that this caused, already being treated for paranoia, agoraphobia, and panic disorder. What recorse do I have to hold the landlord liable for the undue, and illeagle stress caused, if any? Thank you. Sandra Fowler
