The landlord at my father-in-laws community just sent new rules and regulations to go into effect in 60 days.
Of concern are 2 items:
1. Rental rates are for 1 or 2 adults only. Fee for additional adults is $50 per month. Isn't this a violation of Fair Housing? I know of a couple who are in their 70's--they have a disabled adult daughter who lives with them. So they would have to pay extra?
2. All parking was previously "open" parking with no limitations on the # of vehicles. the rules now states....in no case may tenant park more than 2 vehicles in the park on a regular basis. Parking is never an issue---there are plenty of open spaces. My father has 6 vehicles---in order to comply with the new rules he will have to sale the vehicles. This will be pretty major for him as the cars are all collector's cars. Can they make a change like that to existing residents---shouldnt't they be "grandfathered". This is one of the reasons he chose the park. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
