My response:

The word "Dissolution" is the legal term for "Divorce". They are the same thing. It means to "Dissolve" - like an Alka Seltzer tablet in a glass of water - - the tablet dissolves, and like that Alka Seltzer tablet, the marriage is no more.

An Annulment is a legal term for "It never existed". When an Annulment is granted, you can actually state, under oath, that you've NEVER been married. It's not a Dissolution because in an Annulment situation, the presumption is that there was something illegal or fraudulent about the marriage - making the "marriage" invalid, as if it never occurred.

What is your State name ?

My response:

I have no practical experience in Minnesota, so I can't answer your current questions - - however, I can say, that it depends on the specifics of your situation, and the congestion of the courts in your neck of the woods.

Now, if this were a California question, I could help you because that's where I practice law.

So, in the absence of a difinitive answer from a Minnesota practitioner on these boards, I would suggest that you call a local Family law attorney for a free consultation.
