What is the name of your state? TN

We were married in Jamaica 2 years ago. We received a marriage certificate there, but never filed anything with the state of TN when we returned. Does the state of TN recognize this marriage eventhough nothing has been filed with them? We are looking at the possibility of divorcing and want to know the legal status with the states before proceeding.

The US automatically recognizes legally performed marriages from other countries. Nothing has to be "filed" for the marriage to be recognized.

Therefore, you need to do a normal divorce.
