What is the name of your state? OHIO
HERE'S MY "story":
I brought my (used) car on Tuesday March 1st 2005 to the Service Department of Tim Lally Chevrolet in Bedford, OHIO, 4 days after I purchased it, because of a bad wheel bearing noise from the driver’s side could be heard. Same noise I heard on the day we test-drove the car. It is a local mechanic shop that actually confirmed me what it was. Also, I did tell the service dpt to look at all four wheels.
They called me to tell me the part was taking time to come in because of the weather. I was able to pick up my car on Friday March 4th as they called me the same day to notify me the ar was ready, and when I drove it I could notice the noise on the driver’s side was gone.
Friday March 18th I took it to the same local mechanic and he told me the new noise I heard now was coming from a bad wheel bearing but on the passenger’s side this time.
On Wednesday March 23rd I left my car to Tim Lally’s Service Dpmt.
On March 25th they left a message on my fiance’s phone (I was out of town) and said “all noise is from road and tires. Pick it up any time”. I picked it up on Saturday March 26th.
On Friday April 1st I left my car again for the day at the local mechanic shop and they called me saying the noise was still a bad wheel bearing on the passenger’s side. He also said I could give Tim Lally Service dpmt his phone number.
I called Tim Lally Service’s and they told me on the phone they had in their records that they changed the “right wheel bearing”. I told them this was wrong, they fixed the left one in February. I got an appointment for Monday April 4th and left my car there. They called me the same day at 5:20pm and said the technicians couldn’t hear the noise, that also they called my mechanic and he said there was a bad wheel, but still they couldn’t hear the noise; they asked me to go there for a test drive with a technician. Which I did the following morning (Tuesday April 5th at 9am), I drove my car, with the technician sitting on the passenger seat, and my fiancé on the back seat. The technician said he could hear a tire noise and we told him to listen to a higher pitch noise which is supposed to be the wheel bearing in front of him. Then once I was driving on 480East towards Oakwood he asked “did you tell them to drive it on the highway” and I said yes. Then we went back to Tim Lally’s and the technician said “you still have a rental car? We will take care of your car.”
On Friday April 8th at 5:30pm the service dpmt called me and said “you can pick up your car tomorrow if you want. They didn’t find anything though, the noise that you hear is an engine noise, they took the car on the highway and stopped the engine and the noise was gone. There is nothing wrong with your car, the wheels are fine, the axels are fine. If it gets worth you can take it back if you want”.
I called the Used Car dpmt of Tim Lally on Tuesday April 12th and asked them about the GM certification of my car. This car was sold to me with a sign "GM certified, as is". “Matt’ said first that the seller “Tony” that sold me this car was no longer with them, but that he could pull up the file for me. He did call me 5 minutes later and said there is no printed document of the warranty, but only a sticker that should have been put in my glove box and confirmed me that my car has either 3000miles or 90 days of GM warranty.
I also asked the service depmt to send me all the receipts since February. I am waiting for these papers.
I trust my ears and my mechanic.
This is probably not a Lemon Law applicable case....
But maybe some of you could advise me what I should do!!!
WHERE COULD I GET MY CAR "inspected" by real experts that the Dealership could not deny the diagnosis??? Is htere any inspectors or experts that can do that???
