I live in Arizona and I am scheduled to have mediation tomorrow regarding custody and visitiaton disputes- me and the father were never married and for the first 5months of her life he wanted nothing to do with her and know that he is faced with child support he is trying to get all he can in visitation so his support payment is lowered. my question is what should I expect in mediation?

I've just gone to mediation about a month ago the thing to remeber is to tell the truth to over exagerrate but bring the evidence to support your claim the mediator listend to both of us at first of what we are seeking I want sole custody with reasonable visitaion he wants joint physical so the child would live in two houses because we live in the same town. He got hot under the collar with the mediatior so she separted us and spoke to us individually and then at the end summarized what we are each seeking since we could not come to an agreement we where then sent to the jugdge woh has now ordered a best interest evalution like you I have been the sole caretaker soup to nuts if it where not for him filing papers about demanding more time and overnights we would not even be in court so while we are there support has now been addressed. All matters will now be address custody suuport and visiton. Mani thing to remember state your case calmly and clearly don't go into a lot of dribble stick to the facts. From that point on you will be taken seriously about your concerns. If you have not allowed any form of visiton you best get too it a Saturday or Sunday or both depending on the age and the fathers relationship with the child one overnight but otherwise day visits on every other weekend if you don't it will come back and bite you hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!
