What is the name of your state? in

Please excuse my ignorance of this subject. i was terminated (i believe wrongfully-another issue) from my employer this past jan for unexcused absences-after being instructed by my mgr to take a leave of absence. he was terminated during my loa.

nonetheless, i suffer from severe depression and arthritis in my back. i currently collect unemployment and am actively looking to secure employment. however, i don't see myself able to work in my mental and physical condition. i do not have medical insurance and could not afford cobra. i cannot afford my meds and my home is in foreclosure. are their any type of govt assisted medical benefits so that i may began to get a handle on my depression and pain management??? and untimately go back to work? i don't want to lie in bed 24-7, waiting to lose my home and my mind any longer. without meds i can't even motivate to get out of bed longer than an hour or so.

any advice positive or negative much appreciated.
thanks
liz

That's because Martinl's response was just spam regarding a porno site that the board administrator has wisely deleted.

Liz, what social benefits you may be entitled to depends upon the welfare system in your State. I suggest you contact your area's welfare office and see what they advise. If you don't know how to get in touch with them, I expect the UC office can direct you.

Good luck and I hope your situation improves.

Go to your doctor, too. Tell him your situation and how desperate you are. he may have samples, and if not -- there are medication programs for those qualifiying (sounds like you qualify), and you can receive your meds from the maker free. Ask your doc about this program (or his nurse), fill out the application (usually done right there at the doc's office). Call your county public health department, too, and ask about programs for low income and for those medically unable to work. If the welfare office tries to blow you off -- keep calling and requesting assistance. Do you have children? If so, your child can qualify for Medicaid, and you can qualify for Adult with child Medicaid. If you don't expect this condition to improve within the next two months (or if you expect it to take you down and out), file for disability now. Call the Social Security Administration and ask them what options you have in this interim while temporarily disabled and unable to work. It will be imperative that -- if you do qualify for supplemental security disability income (SSDI) that your application for disability be on file. You sound to be in pretty desperate need, and there are programs out there to help you. You've just got to call and call and ask and ask.

I hope things improve for you soon.
