What is the name of your state?Ohio

Here is the short form, we had a doctor bill for 138 dollars. Our insurance through teamsters would not cover. I called to find out why, they said it was deemed unecessary and it was non billable do to the doctor was in contract with the insurance company. The doctor then decides to send me threatening letters about how I owe them the full amount since insurance will not pay. Once again I contact teamsters and am told that the doctor is in contract with medical mutual ( our insurance provider) and since this has been deemed not necessary we do not owe them.

Now I don't fully get it. The dr is saying it will go to collections, my insurance says that I should not pay a penny.

Anybody that has any experience with this situation that could help me grasp a bit more of my rights and responsibilties in this issue would be appreciated.

Unless your Teamster dudes are business partners with Tony Soprano, pay the bill. The doctor is correct.

Then it is your bill. Your insurance (teamsters or not) insures YOUR obligation to the doctor when certain conditions are met. In this case, the bill does not meet those conditions... so the obligation falls on YOU to pay it. Their rejection of the claim does not waive YOUR obligation to pay the medical bill for services YOU received.

You are 'confused' as to their statement. When they said that it was 'unneccessary', they meant ONLY that your procedure was NOT covered under your policy as it was NOT a necessary treatment. Again, that does not waive your obligation.
