What is the name of your state?N.Y.
In my divorce papers it says that I'm responsible for 70% of unreimbursed medical bills. I have always paid my share. This time the ex submitted the paperwork to my ins. company. They told her that they'll cover 50%. So, the ex now says that I have to pay the 70% that my ins. isn't covering. Does this sound right to any of you reading?

That is correct.
Unreimbursed means Not paid, so if the insurance pays 50% of $100, ($50) then you own 70% of $50 or $35.
If your child needs medical equipment like a brace that is bought in the pharmacy and it is not covered by insurance, you pay 70 % of that amount.
If you child needs braces and your dental plan covers 80% on braces so your child goes to the consult and the doctor says your child doesn't need braces but suggests the dentist pull several teeth to make room for the teeth to grow, thus not needing braces and the entire consult not covered, so your child goes to the consult with you thinking it will be covered but it's not you still owe 70% of the entire consult not covered.
Some things can catch you by surprise.

I guess I have a thick head here. I'm responsible for 70% of the unreimbursed bill, I'm not denying that.If my ex wife submitted the bills through her ins. then I would pay the 70% of the remainder. She went through my ins. company without my knowledge and submitted them. My ins. is covering 50% which we'll say is $550.00 and then turning around and saying that I owe 70% on the other $550.00. This way here, she's not paying her 30%. The way I see it is that I end up paying more than the 70%. I'm confused.

You are reading it right - unless I'm reading it wrong! If the bill was originally $1,100 and the insurance company paid 50% then that leaves $550 not covered/unpaid. You then have to pay 70% of the unpaid amount of $550 or $385. This means your ex has to pay the remaining $165 which is 30%.

It sounds like your wife also has insurance on the child...does she? If so, she needs to submit the balance to them before you have to pay your 70%.
