I have a complaint against TrustCare medical insurance company. I am twenty one and I live in Murray Kentucky. I am still claimed dependent, while I go to school. My father works at Calloway County Hospital as a social worker. As an employee of this hospital my father pays money for medical insurance for his family, and the cut off age is 21, but there isn't a cut off age if the student is enrolled in college full time. Which I am doing. Two years ago I got braces put on my teeth because insurance coverage was supposed to pay half of the bill. Well they didn't and I have a $4000 dollar bill that I have been paying off by myself. When my orthodontus found out he was mad because he thought my teeth should have been covered so he wrote them a letter. From the start of me having braces the whole thing was structured around me be able to have this jaw surgery. Which was about $10000. Well, when I called the insurance company the person on the phone said that the insurance wouldn't cover that because they considered it to be a cosmetic surgery. So I went to the hospital to see a specialist and he did a few test on me and found there there was no way a surgery like that would cosmetic, and that my jaw would have to be replace if I don't get this done. So he and my orthodontus wrote a letter to the insurance company with x rays to prove that my aw needs to be corrected. They still wouldn't believe them. So my Father went to the person in charge of the whole hospital to get him to write the insurance company and they didn't respond. I also had to get cyst removed surgicaly from my back which cost $400 and now I found out that there not going to pay for their side. I am just a college student and I pay for everything. I need to know what I need to do to get my insurance company to do what they are supposed to do.

Most dental insurance has low per year limits, but I don't know if this is dental or medical. CONTACT The state insurance department ad seek their assistance. KY had a very good insurance commissioner who recently left, but some of the staff is still there and excellent and they may be able to help. Otherwise you have to sue them, either in small claims court or through a lawyer.
