I would like to know if medical insurers, hospitals, doctors, etc. are allowed to attach a pension of any kind to pay medical bills that are owed to them.

93 year old woman with government pension stayed in hospital longer than insurance coverage provided. No funds to pay. Can pension be attached? If so, what type of pension? Social Security? Disability? Gov't. retirement pension?

Thanks, Tom Ahearn Florida
