What is the name of your state?california
my mother-in-law is in her nineties. several years ago she developed severe dementia and without a doubt, i believe, would be considered incompetent. no one obtained medical power of attorney for her prior to her incompetentcy. how does someone obtain medical power of attorney at this point?thx.

Hire an attorney to apply/petition the court in the county where MIL resides to be her conservator and Health Care Surrogate/Health Care Proxy.
