I have recently received a conditional job offer from a police dept here in CA. One of the conditions states that I must pass a medical exam. The problem comes with the recent x-raying of my back and a tentative diagnosis of spondylolethesis. This is a shock to me since I;ve never had back pain/problems. This symptoms of this condition range from no problems (which I have) to mild to severe back pain. I was told that this back condition could possibly never affect me during my career as an officer but that the dept might terminate my job offer due to "the increased potential for a back injury." According to MD's that I've talked to people w/out the condition have just as much a chance of hurting themselves as I do. Is this a form of job discrimination...or am I out of luck?

Don't Crush My Dream

Hi there. I am a police officer with spondylolethesis. I'd love to chat with you about it. My email is [email protected]. I've been looking for someone to chat with about this back pain. :)
