What is the name of your state? Georgia

In the state of GA, not a community property state, however I have read conflicting answers as to whether or not a spouse is responsible for the other spouse's medical bills. I realize that if something was signed by the spouse then of course you are stating that you will be responsible. However, if nothing is signed, then what would be the situation? That is question #1

Taking it a step further, what if said spouse with the medical bills then passes away, does that change anything? If the spouse who passed away has little to next to nothing in their name, then what?
