What is the name of your state? Michigan

Okay, I'm 17 years old, and I want to drop out of school due to my insomnia, depression, and anxiety problems. I was told my mom would go to jail if I dropped out. I've been looking things up, and I have yet to find any information on that particular subject. I will be 18 in a matter of monthes.....but none the less, school has caused a major increase of my depression and etc.

I'm wondering, is it true if I choose to drop out of school, will my mom be sent to jail, even if she does give me consent? I do plan on getting my GED...but there are over 2,000 students at my highschool. I tried looking this up on my highschool's website, but it doesn't have any information that doesn't require me to download something on my computer....Please help...

Is there an alternative high school in your school district? My son attended one and was able to graduate. Have you discussed this with your mom? Have you checked into home-schooling?

High dropout rates have a major negative impact on the economy and society, NEA says.

• A high school dropout earns about $260,000 less over his or her lifetime than a high school graduate and pays about $60,000 less in taxes.

• Annual losses exceed $50 billion in federal and state income taxes for all 23 million of the nation’s high school dropouts ages 18 to 67.

• High school dropouts are 72 percent more likely to be unemployed compared to high school graduates.

• Nearly 80 percent of individuals in prison do not have a high school diploma.

Michigan's current high school drop-out age is 16, although efforts are underway to increase that to 18. Michigan's current high school graduation rate is 87.7%. Many drop-outs wind up getting GEDs when they discover jobs are limited for people without a high school diploma.

I think we should give the OP some helpful phrases he could learn while he is contemplating his future employment.

I'll start:

1. Would you like to "Super-size" your order, Sir?

2. Paper or plastic, Ma'am?
