I am being taken to court for an old credit card debt of about 6000.00. What can happen to me in michigan if the judgement goes against me?Garnishment, frozen bank accounts or a lien on my home? What would be the best way to handle this situation with the creditor? Thanks.

How 'old'?? Have you reviewed the issue of expiration due to tolling of the 'Statute of Limitations'?? The SOL in MI is 6 years (open account and written agreement).

Yes to all the above.

Obviously the 'best' way is to pay it if you owe it. The next best way is to negotiate some type of settlement and pay that. Any other options depend largely on your individual financial condition.
