The problem started last year some times before or after Christmas, when the above neighbor, water heater burst. I clearly remember that it was a holiday and no one showed up for few days.
Portion of the living room was flooded. It took about a month before every thing was back to normal.
Sometimes in March or April my child room (the opposite site) it was smelling very bad and I also noticed the carpet was very moist, I never experienced such a thing, so I called the maintenance people, this time they said our water heater burst.
The contractor told me very clearly; the See Brook management always wait until the water heater goes bad before they change it.
It took about couple of week or more before everything was dry.
All our windows in the leaving room and the child room was mildew. And after we complained several times. Finally they came and cleaned the windows.
In May I smelled very strange in my bedroom closet and when I called they didn’t respond so I wrote a letter and explain them the urgency of this matter.
They came and I was told that my closet is mildew and so as all my clothing.
They came back with this large machine, turned it on and left.
I waited about 3 days, and when I called them, they said leave the machine front of your doorstep. We will pick it up later. I didn’t know much about mildew, I found out, it is a toxic and it can cause major sicknesses.
The mildew is still there and every time I ask for help they send someone to look at the closet and see if we are still alive.
I am a lot concern now about my child health and me. I have been living in this terrible smelling mildew room for the past six months. And it seems no one cares about our health. My husband told me that I shouldn’t sleep in my room anymore and if I don’t move out at once the sickness results maybe incurable.
Management they have never been concerned about our health or even offer to change me to a different apartment.
Dry-cleaner will not take the majority of my clothes to remove the mil-dew, to replace all my expensive clothes will cost me over $10,000 to replace.
Manger told me that my contract expires on Sep 10, 01 but I cannot move out until Oct 1, 2001, because it can expire only at the beginning of a month.
Don’t I have any living rights? What about my child?
What happen to those good honest people?
