I live in texas, ex lives in nebraska. my new husband is us army, and has gotten orders to go overseas, i have full custody of my 2 children (ages4&5), but ex has visitation. we will only be gone for 1 year, can he (ex) stop me from taking our children?

Of course he can.. you will be destroying the relationship the father has with the children. He will easily be able to petition the courts and stop you from leaving the country. And if you leave the country without court permission, he can file for physical custody in your absence.
