i live in ohio and am a marine wife. my husband is stationed at camp lejuene, north carolina. we were married on june 9th, 2000 and now we are seperated. the reason we seperated was so i could come home to go back to college. i lived in NC with him from june to december when i moved back to ohio. my husband is now living with another woman in an apartment near base and has been telling me for the past two months that he wants a divorce. we charged our wedding of $6,000 on my credit card and now i am left to pay for it myself while trying to attend college full time with a part time job that pays 5.15 an hour. he also has told me that he has already taken legal action towards our divorce and that i should be getting papers in the mail any day now (hes been saying that for three weeks now) can divorce papers even come in the mail? i thought they had to be presented by someone and witnessed. am i eligible for spousal support to help pay for the wedding even though we were only married a short amount of time? is it possible that he is using his BAQ money to house and provide for his other woman? should i bring this to his CO's attention????

spousal support

HI there,

I'm going to ansewer your question from experience. I'm no lawyer. Your husband being in the Military is supposed to provide for you. there was a time in the military when a service member had to send the entire BAQ to the spouse when they separted. That is no longer the case. You didn't mention if there are children involved? If not then you chances decrease. If you want to cause you husband much discomfort Yes tell his command that you have left the home and another women is living with him now. Proven adultry is punishable by up to 2 years in prison. Next go see a lawyer unless he did it himself you are suppose to be served by someone. according to what I read you can't serve them yourself. File on your end and in the petition ask for spousal support. Search http://www.militarydivorceonline.com lots of answers and links there for you to see. Good Luck.
