I live in Ohio and I just found out that my father named me as beneficiary on his insurance policy. My mother obtained a lawyer and claimed the money for herself as I was a minor at the time. This happened 17 years ago. Was it legal and if not do I have any recourse? Thank you.

How old are you now? The statute of limitations may have run, assuming that the INSURER, lawyer and your mother did anything illegal to get the money. And many policies permit payment of proceeds to be used for support of the child if the bene is a minor.
