What is the name of your state? Kentucky

One year ago my daughter was bullied by some older girls in school. at the time she had just turned 15. the other girls ranged in age from 17 to 19. they pressured my daughter to fight a one on one fight after school or chance being beat by all 3 girls at one time. My daughter had never been in a fight in her life. Scared and bullied....she surendered to the after school fight. when she arrived there were over 100 kids waiting to watch this brutal event. Some of the kids had even brought video cameras. My daughter was severly beaten. At one point while one of the girls had her on the ground... another walked up and kicked her. It was so sever that my daughter wet her pants in front of this crowd of students. One boy became worried that the beating was getting out of hand and was going to stop the fight, when some of the other students refused to let him. We were told by the school that they couldn't do anything because it didn't happen on school property. The police informed use the girls had a previous record and was on probation and without the video tape it would be hard to prusue. For the last 3 days my daughter's face has been plastered on the TV in regards to her being part of a fight club. The news station only played mild parts of this fight.....but it was shown through out the day in commericals advertising for people to tune in. You can imagine our suprise as we are watching TV and......there's my daughter. We thought this was all over and buried. The school said they could do nothing and the police said they were unable to obtain the video. The news station portrayed her as being in a fight club and informed their viewers that the tape could be purchased on the internet. My daughter is dealing with some major issues this week with her health. There is a problem with the artery in her brain. They are running more test. She has been quizzed by parents, teachers, and other students who saw the news broadcast. She says they have no right to portray her in such a "white trash" manor and twist the truth. She has cried over this public display of a humiliating and brutal beating she received.....not to mention it is avabile on the internet for sale. We were not informed this incident was going to be on the news......we are stunned. My daughter wants to sue....the media shouldn't have the right to exploit minors.....and freedom of speech does not give them the right......can my daughter sue? What is the name of your state?

My response:

No. In your neck of the woods, it's a "news" event. She has no cause of action.

Don't you even want to get a copy of the video first to review?

My response:

Averad, you're never going to get a logical, straight, story - - or at least one that makes sense. You need to remember that these people are in Kentucky, the "Capitol of Trailers" in this country, and the Dufus Hillbillies. They think sideways.

IAAL I know, my first response was taken a lot more seriously then it should have been.

I've been out of town. It was interesting to see the hillbilly comment. ha ha. My faimly is well refined and traveled. I have lived in many states and as far west (just recently in fact) as Newport Beach, CA. It is so funny, because Californians truely believe the people in Kentucky marry with in their own families, think that they don't have indoor plumbing, etc. But, please this is the 21st Century. It befuddles me that people on the west coast can be either that naive or ignorant. I'm sure this held true many years ago**************for many states. I truely hope you don't believe what you wrote.....IAAL.
