My child is at Arizona State University and just received a citation for minor in comnsumption. There was no arrest or breathalizer. The two of them were standing outside a pizza place waiting for a friend and were approached and ticketed for MIC..what happens now? This is the first time it has ever happened

No breathalyzer or anything is needed except for the officer to witness your child consuming an alcoholic beverage, even if its just one sip. I suggest that your child go to court and seek any alternative punishments. Some courts will allow for x hours of community service and when completed the charge is dismissed, etc. If not available, pay the fine and move on. MIP charges are not usually seen as the end of the world by employers.
