texas-my 17 yr old daughter was picked up at 6 flags for shoplifting a $9.97 item with friends. we were not notified at the time although the other 17 yr old's parents were called.we were later told our daughter was considered an adult and paid a $285.00 fine on her own. she was never arrested just given a citation, she was told this was a lesser offense than a driving ticket. there was no adult present on her behalf.she paid the fine. does this stay on her adult record forever? will it affect her college attendance? also now we have been sent notice of a possible civil suit against us as parents responsible for her as a minor, if we pay $250.00 they will drop the civil suit. should we pay? is she a minor or an adult? she is a honor student-never in any trouble with the law before. Please help.....please
