I am a 17yr old girl and was with another 17 year old girl and a 17 yr old boy. We attempted to ask someone to buy us beer at a convenient store. There was an off duty cop near by who had an idea of what we were doing. I never said anything but I was with my friend who did. When we were turned down we preceded into the store to buy a coke and get out of there because we were scared. The off duty cop followed us into the store and approached us and said "Hey what do ya'll want I will get it for you?" we told him and showed him the money. Could this be entrapment?? He then asked us our names and called for police. I turns out that the boy my friend and I rode with had a bottle of whiskey in his car which neither I nor my friend were aware of. All 3 of us were given MIP's and attempting to buy. We were handcuffed and taken to the station where we were then handcuffed to the table, finger printed, and mug shots were taken. The following day, the entire story including names, ages, and type of beer we were asking for was told on the radio several times. Two days later the headline of our paper was our story totally distorted by the off duty officer. No names were mentioned in the paper but only the other girl and I were mainly mentioned and portrayed as flirtatiously trying to convince someone to buy us beer. This is totally not true. I just have questions regarding the charges, radio reports with names and ages being we are all minors, and the newspaper bias reporting on the front page.
thanks for any advice

You need to hire a defense attorney. You have no entrapment claim since you'd already expressed a desire to buy beer before the cop talked to you. You can argue that you did not possess alcohol because you didn't know the whiskey was in the car. You're stuck on the attempt to buy. All 3 of you were acting together & all are accomplices.

You may have a separate action agaisnt the police or radio station for publishing the names of minor arrestees. Talk to the lawyer about that.
