What is the name of your state? North Carolina
My brother shares the same first/last name of another individual (with just a different middle name). His drivers' license was previously suspended due to unpaid traffic tickets and court costs. Recently, he paid them off, but the DMV refused to reinstate his license because of several additional tickets given to the other individual. My brother explained that this was a mistake and the middle names are different. Then, a court summons arrived at the home with just the first/last name on it. My brother assumed that the summons was for him, but when he showed up at court, when the defendant's full name was called, he realized that the summons was actually for the other person. Finally, a child support order was filed and delivered to my brother's house. However, the child support order is actually for this other person. My brother has never met the complainant, but the order contains my brother's SSN. The courts are now saying that my brother has to hire a lawyer in order to prove that he is not this other person. My brother cannot afford an attorney. He works two jobs to support his wife and 3 boys and they already cannot make ends meet. What specifically does he need to do to clear his name?
