What is the name of your state?

Missouri

Am I reading the Missouri law right? Do I only get 1000 in equity exempted on my mobile home? (I am $15,000 upside down but I was hoping to use the homestead for some other items)

That is correct, that's all MO allows and clearly doesn't include mobile homes in the homestead exemption. If you're that updside down on it, you have nothing to exempt anyway.

If you dont have a brick and mortar home on a permanent foundation with land as your primary residence, then you can't use the homestead exemption. There is a wild card of $850 you can use though.
