mobile home lot rental

We have been renting a private mobile home space in NC for 5 yrs. Everything was fine until my daughter had a black friend over and the landladys daughter had a fit about it. this was about a month ago. Today we recieved a notice on our door stating that effective Jan. 1st that the lot rent is going up by 25 dollars and also a bunch of rules. My concern is with a couple of them. Can she require that the rent can only be paid in cash- no checks- even though I have not had any trouble with returned checks? And if she can, can I pay with a money order so that I will have a reciept, because she doesn't usually give me one because I use a check?
Also the rules say that we have to keep the yard mowed- that is not a problem- we have always done that but can she tell us that we cannot mow on Sundays due to her own religous beliefs?

First off your daughter need a lesson in dealing with REDNECKS.

You do not date or allow someone who is NOT your on color in your home, especially when you are renting!!!!!!

Second, the landlord must give you a 30 day notice for any rent increases if you dont have a lease. so the effective date would be feb 1st.

Third you have a Legal right to a reciept, for cash, if she does not give you one... DONT PAY HER!

You must teach your daughter not to date black men until she gets the hell out of North Carolina, or moves to a big city.

It sounds like you need a lesson in much more than red necks!
In the event that you didn't know, there are racist, ignorant idiots in other places besides North Carolina. How Dare you even try to say that anyone should not allow someone into their home simply because of their color!

I am not attmepting to give advice but I was just so outraged and disgusted by your comments that I had to say something.

I don't really know all that much about law and legal rights and issues, but It would just be common sense to me that no one could impose restrictions due to color. I would think that it that were going on, then the NAACP would be going nuts!

UH how come I never read about this in new York City?

Its North Carolina.....backwoods REDNECKS, trailer trash, jerry springer material.

UNLESS you OWN your trailer AND LAND, you will always be at the mercy of these low lifes.

So in the meantime while you are saving up to buy you own land, and move the trailer, have your daughter NOT bring black people over.

Just some basic practical advice....yeah its not right but you are dealing with REDNECKS!

OK, first of all I never said this was my daughters boyfriend, she is only 12. this is just a friend from school that was running around the neighborhood with some other boys And girls. they just stopped by to say hi. Its bad enough that I have to hear that my daughter is being called a whore by this idiot I rent from, I certainly didn't expect this kind of response from here. I was not raised in NC but I love it here and there are alot of good people- yes there are people like you describe and yeah maybe the landlady and her family are like that but that does not excuse the fact that the changes that they are making are totally in retaliation. I do think it is quite pitiful. And as of today we have decided to move. Thanks anyway!

Thats the best solution is to move, and save up for your own place.

And rent a HOUSE...and stay away from trailers.

Its just life.....sometimes you get a great landlord and sometimes you get a Nazi!

Its just MY experience that there are more Nazi's in the south then there are in New York City.


Ps: when we moved in here i had 3 black guys my friends, help me and the landlord offered cold soda, and clean towels, it was a little warm that day, plus he removed the doors, and he and his wife are around 70 years old. Italians!

Thats the way we are raised.
