What is the name of your state? Washington
My mom died in october, and my stepdad just passed last week. mom left no will. stepdad left no will. my brother and i went to mom/stepdads house when we learned of stepdads passing, and the house has been emptied by stedads sisters and mother. they gave us some pictures, told us everything belongs to them. mom and stepdad were paying on a home(in both thier names). stepdad just collected several hundred thousand in insurance from moms passing. and of course all the property in the home too. what are my brother and myself entitled to? my brother is a minor and living with me. stepdad had no kids of his own. stepdad was said to have made a will, but his sister said he passed the day it was to be signed. not that it matters, but he told us he was leaving us a great deal of the insurance money and we were to have what we wanted from house. we just dont know where to go from here.

Was your Mom's estate ever probated? If not, that's where you need to start. You might be entitled to an intestate share of your Mom's estate. You are not entitled to anything from your stepdad's estate. You will want to talk to a probate attorney who can review all of the facts of your situation and advise you accordingly.
