What is the name of your state? TN

My lease expired on 6/30/06 and I have gone to "month to month" rent. Since my lease is expired and no letter to renew was sent by the apartment complex, am I required to abide by their "60 day notice" as stipulated in the now expired lease? Secondly, is the lease in fact expired b/c I now pay month to month or am I still bound by the lease as long as I pay?

I found no info in the TN Code pertaining to this.

Thanks, I'm trying to keep from paying rent on an apartment I will not be living in.

Do you know for sure that the lease has indeed expired? Some leases have a cluase that unless given notice by the tenant of their intentions to vacate the unit at the end of the lease, it will auto-renew... Thus you are back on a year lease. Double check your lease for the "auto-renew" clause.
