Had loud music from neighbor below in 2 story apt. Bldg mgr resolved by asking me to phone neighbor to lower music. This worked for a few months, tonite he played very loud (he does disc-jockey music at bars, clubs) and I called but he didn't answer. I went down and knocked, he was furious, said he had a deal where he can play as loud as he wants and raved until I left. Bldg mgr previously told me he had no such deal.

But the caretakers may have. Anyways, I called the caretakers and they cursed a few words and told me to go away. Later they went to the neighbor and afterwards the music/noise was gone.

Now I know the bldg mgr likes me because I lived here 22 years with no incidents and pay my rent. I'm angry at the caretakers as they seem to ignore me. I've had several neighbors, none of which were problems until this guy who also commented on my age (67), is this ageism? I had my share of rock and roll before his parents were around but I know what courtesy is.

Should I talk with the bldg mgr to get the caretaker's side?

STOP talking. Write a letter to the building manager to address your issues. Send it via CERTIFIED MAIL, RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED. If the manager wants to address the issue with the caretaker, that will be up to them to do so. You just cover yourself by putting your complaints in writing from now forward, and you should be covered.

Will do that, but being paranoid a bit, would they want to evict me because of my complaints?

What have the police said when you called them?

I suspect not much, since it's really not that late.
