What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? South Carolina
My mother is currently listed on our mortage. However, she is NOT listed on the deed. She has substantial credit card debt and no property or assets. Will this cause a problem with our mortgage upon her death?

Shouldn't be a problem. The mortgage is just another liability and if you keep making the payments there should be no impact.
