Last Saturday I signed closing papers for a second mortgage on my home. Last night, the day before they were to fund the loan, I was told that an underwriter had refused to approve the loan. Am I right in my understanding that by signing the mortgage papers the mortgage company and I have entered into a binding contract and they cannot back out of it now? There were no documents giving them rescission rights.
