What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ohio, I had a mortgage from Wells Fargo that originated in 2004. In 2010 my ex and I divorced and my last payment was in approximately in 9/2010. Well Fargo had the doors locked and in 2011 filed bankruptcy. In 2014, due to the damage and mold, Wells Fargo decided to write off the loan with the mortgage guarantor being Fannie Mae. Wells Fargo reports this as paid and closed on my credit report. Now in almost two years I have heard nothing from Fannie Mae. Apparently they sold the debt to collector. They are reporting this as an open account, which I don't know my rights or what to do. The statue of limitations on debt collecting is almost up, six years if I'm correct. What is the best thing to do in this situation? Can I move back in and repair this? Can they seek legal repercussion in filing bankruptcy, what can I do?
