We are living in California. My minor son and I have been living in a motel as week-to-week for five months, and have gotten behind on our rent. The owner hasn't been asking us about the rent, but says he's closing all the rooms in our area for repairs, and we need to be out in 2 days. We have paid him a deposit, aren't we entitled to be served with a notice to pay or quit just as a home renter? Or isn't he required to offer us other accomodations? There is nothing in writing one way or the other. We do want to go elsewhere, but haven't the money as of yet.
