What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

It happened Friday. The facility owner of this 7 patient residential care home is in denial and so are the 2 exhausted caregivers...

My Mother has lived there since March 8, 2010. With no issues or any problems like this...the caregivers are very good with my Mom...

I took her to the er Friday for an infection, turned out to be a 2nd degree burn, got it dressed and documented by Burn Unit with photos...

Next day I visit and Mom seems to have a new burn under her eye...

Me and my sibling have tried calling the owner and she is in denial...we told her to handle it or APS would be called.

Tomorrow I take Mom back to Burn Unit for redress and I will tell them that I figured out the roommate may be suspect, file police report and hire Elder Abuse Attny for damages to my Mom. APS may be involved as well.

Her new roommate is awake all night unsupervised, while the caregivers and owner sleep, my poor mom has been her target whether it is from her not liking my mom or her state of mind. My Mom cannot talk walk or do anything without help, she has advanced dementia, but I monitor her medications so she is docile.

I am looking for a new facility for my Mom now too.

Any advice is appreciated, I have never been in this situation.

startthe process by wrtiting a letter sent via CM w/RRR to the care center detailng the allleggation, the contact with the center [datees & time and wwirh whom] and a deadliine for a WRITTEN RESPONSE.

Do not take their phone calls, only a writteen response will help you.

Follow up simultaneously with APS.

Good luck

Just to update, this turned out to be a rare skin disorder called Bullous Pemphigoid.

I am treating it holistically, the alternative is steriods, which can cause a new host of side effects for those who have advanced dementia and are elderly.

Holistic treatment is often useless. Keep in mind that this condition can be quite serious in the elderly:

Are you qualified to treat her?

The drugs used to treat this condition are some pretty hefty drugs, I don't blame OP for wanting to avoid them if possible. It doesn't seem like the condition is terribly serious for now.

I agree, these steroids can cause the elderly to get weaker immune systems, as well as mental issues.
