And what kind of "prison" is it? A state or federal pen? One geared towards mothers (yes they have those with special visiting rooms and everything) or just a regular one? Also what did mom do? How long is she in for?

Are you the one in prison? (sorry, I couldn't resist at least asking).

Although I will take flack for this, there is no difference between a parent in prison, the hospital or other facility, or even in the general population, in regards to a court order.

If the judge issued an order for visitation then the mother, regardless of her situation, and assuming she follows the order, has the right to visitation and the custodial parent is under the same obligations as any other parent with the same order.

Actually BB you shouldn't take flack for it. It is correct. The only instance it may correct in is the mother killed the father after the court order. Then in some states that would pretty much terminate the parent's rights to see the children automatically (the killer's that is).
My purpose for asking the questions is more curiosity than anything else -- there are several prisons particularly Women's prisons that have set themselves up to handle child visitation.

I won't argue, however, in the original post the incarcerated woman is going through a divorce and the judge has already granted 'reasonable' visitation. (and we all know that is NOT the case)
