My mother is in a nursing home. She would like to sell the house. The house is in her name. If I sell the house is there any way for her to keep the money without the nursing home or the goverment getting the money.

Is she receiving federal assistance to pay for the nursing home? If so, the government can force her to disgorge the profits from any sale in the last 3 years, I think. Talk to an estate planning attorney about how best to accomplish her goals.
