Iowa, we have joint custody, he has primary care. He does not let me talk to them on the phone, they call me by my first name, his wife is mom, he will not notify me if the kids have an accident or for any other purpose. They are not allowed to talk to me if i see them somewhere, ballgames, school functions, whatever. What can I do?

Retain an attorney and take him to court.

I know that is what should happen. But who can afford it, really. The price of a good attorney is outrageous and with little access to funds for this purpose, what do you do. The first step is the anywhere from $1000 to 10000 retainer fee. Like many others i am sure, the details of this are soo.. unbelievable, the stuff he has pulled, always watching what i do, after almost 10 yrs. you would have thought this just happened. we have been divorced since 93. he obviously just can't get over it. i have told him that and his repy is that if i was over it, his wife could have adopted the children. and what gets me is that they worship the ground he walks on and in the same breath, my soon to be 12yo is affraid to ask him if she can join 4h. what's up with that, i attempted modification in 97, believe it or not, the attorney i retained, well, he was reprimanded by the iowa bar for what happened. i had counselors-3 to be exact to be expert witnesses. i am at my wits end. we have a support hearing the 17th of july, to try to reduce my support. i keep in mind that what comes around goes around, i just wish things would go in my favor for once.
