I went to court with ex last December. He was suing for custody, and I was suing to raise support and alter the travel arrangements for visitation. I retained custody, support was raised, etc. His lawyer produced a draft of an order that did not mesh with the judge's verbal order, so my lawyer filed a motion for entry. There was an 90 minute hearng while they went over my lawyer's draft and his (I wasn't present and ex was) exhaustively. Now his lawyer has produced another problematic draft which again contains a lot of stuff that wasn't ordered and omits stuff favorable to me that was. We ordered a transcript of the 2nd hearing ($200+) which shows exactly what is wrong with the 2nd draft and sent it to them, but they refuse to budge. Now my lawyer says all we can do is file again. Needless to say, this is costing me a fortune. Is this our of the ordinary? Is it possible to recover legal fees in a case like this? Shouldn't there be sanctions for attorneys who are party to this kind of manipulation? What is to stop them from doing the same thing again after yet another hearing? Believe me, the order wasn't what I wanted either but I can live with it and realize I have to.
