Motorcycle title transfer question

I purchased a motorcycle from a person who had the title and lien for it and the necessary paperwork. I have gone to the DMV to transfer this title to my name and have found that the seller (Cody Starrett) that I bought it from actually purchased it from the person listed on the title (Joshua Zimmerman) and did not complete the registration process.

The original owner listed on the title filled out an affidavit with the State of MN stating that he sold it to Cody Starrett, thus that is the name that shows up when we run the license plate of the motorcycle. 09948ME

I have attempted to contact Cody Starrett via phone, however I just get voicemail and have left messages stating that he needs to contact me so that we can complete the registration to me so that I can put the title in my name. He has not returned any calls and I am seeking legal advice as to what course of action I should take next.

just about the same problem

I am in Minneapolis MN,
I had gotten a motorcycle from someone but the title was filled out in the buyers section by someone else.
I have tried to call the title owner, and the person in the buyers section but they don't return calls. I was told that I would have to go to court and talk to a judge. I was wondering if I were to find the titled owner and gave him the forms to get a copy of the title, can I bring the forms in myself? Or does the dmv need to have the person come in also w/his DL? He was way out of town.
