Hey, an apartment I lived in has sent me a damages receipt of owed damages after moving out. They concluded the letter with "Please respond within 30 days to avoid being sent to collection" I e-mailed within the 30 days, never heard back and now they have sent me to collection with no correspondence. What options do I have here?

is there a reason you chose to not include what state you live in ? since we have 50 States and DC we have 51 sets of rules (state laws)

At this point very few.
I'd suggest any future correspondence be sent via snail mail with return receipt requested.
Good luck.

I'm going to guess their request to respond did not mean an email but rather payment for what they claim you owe.

Since it appears you didn't do this the matter was turned over to a collection agency.

Are you now claiming you don't owe for these damages?
